Experimenting With New Painting Styles

I was recently invited to submit work to an abstract art exhibit at the The Hive gallery space in Bee Cave, Texas. I haven't worked in abstract form in twenty years or so. I've been feeling like I really need a massive change in my life, though in what form I'm unsure yet. So I thought to myself, why not challenge myself to work in a style I have never dared attempt. The extreme abstract. Not the geometrical form I used to use in the past, but truly abstract. So far, I'm really enjoying the process and in the past week created two 40" x 30" paintings that I'm pretty happy with. These works have been difficult to photograph because a lot of their details are dimensional, textural. I still plan on continuing in my main style, but right now this has been a very liberating experiment I look forward to seeing how it continues to evolve.
